Emotions workbook for children aged 5–12
Understanding Our Emotions uses engaging, creative activities to help children explore their feelings and practise talking about them with a trusted adult.
When your child can’t explain their feelings, their behaviour often does the talking. This workbook offers a supportive place to begin exploring what different emotions feel like and how they affect us.
Children can identify emotions such as happiness, anger, fear, sadness, disgust and surprise. They’ll also find activities for positive self-talk and self-reflection, including gratitude prompts, affirmation cards, positive vocabulary, and ways to question and reframe negative thoughts.
Inside you’ll find:
- Simple activities for recognising and describing emotions
- Matching games with facial expressions and emojis
- Prompts to write or draw about situations that bring up different feelings
- Ideas for calming activities when feeling angry or sad
- Colouring pages, a positive vocabulary crossword and a short-story activity
- Reflection prompts about what the child has learned and how they’ve helped someone
The workbook presents emotions as a normal part of life and offers children and trusted adults a supportive way to explore them together. Use it at home, in a classroom, during homeschooling, or in a therapy or wellbeing setting.
Also available in Boys, Teens and Adults.

Cute workbook for girls, easy to follow activities.

I bought this workbook for my niece, and it has been a thoughtful way to support emotional learning. The explanations are clear and easy for her to understand, while the interactive activities keeps her interested. I love that the workbook does more than simply name emotions, it also encourages children to think about how feelings affect their thoughts and behaviour and what they can do when emotions become difficult. Highly recommend for kids who need help regulating their emotions!
